TOMORROW IS THE DAY!
Tomorrow will be the day that we will construct our government once again. Candidates have competed very well. Intense attacks towards parties, intense statements from candidate to candidate. Who will win? Who's words will the people of Canada believe in? Would it be and still be Mr. Stephen Harper? Or will it be Mr. Jack Layton who has already connected to many citizens? Or maybe it will be Mr. Michael Ignatieff who has had the most attacks in this election. It has been a stressful, annoying, intense, exciting month for us Canadians. Will the people vote for the right candidates? The candidates that will change Canada and make our country a better one? Who will you vote for? `DECISION 2011.`

"Toronto mayor says vote Conservative"
Toronto mayor, Rob Ford has listened to every candidates speeches and he thinks that Stephen Harper says what the people of Toronto really need. He also sat down as a city councillor with Jack Layton and knowing him, he can say whatever he wants but he will paralyze the city of Toronto. MY OPINION- This is a good thing for Stephen Harper for the support in Toronto, but not a good thing for Jack Layton. This will really hit Jack Layton because mayor Rob Ford has already had personal experience with Layton and knows what he's capable of doing. "Layton says NDP would crack down oil companies"
Jack Layton was in Yelloknife when he said to the public that if he is elected prime minister, he'll introduce a new ombudsman and tougher competition laws to crack down on oil companies. If that doesn't work he says "he'll look at other measures", that include regulating gas prices. MY OPINION- This is a really big issue here in Canada, and if Layton states that he will change it, he will get the support he needs to win because the great increase on gas prices is what everyone is complaining about. "Chretein campaigns for Liberals"
Former prime minister, Jean Chretien visited Michael Ignatieff in Toronto to gain the support Ignatieff lost with the issues toward Ignatieff. Liberal party hopes that Chretien gained back the support they lost. MY OPINION- I think that this was a really good move by Chretien and it was really nice of him. The people of Canada know that he has been a great Prime Minister in the past and they really liked him. In doing so, this may have boosted up the support for the Liberals. "Huge turnout at advance polls"
Advance polls were opened during Easter weekend, and Elections Canada estimates that over 2 million citizens were present to cast a ballot. There was a 34.5% increase at the advance polls compared to the last federal election. MY OPINION- I think that this elections is really intense because of the way the candidates are going at each other. This is a really big election. "Ottawa NDPer's office egged"
In Ottawa, NDP candidate Ric Dagenais got his campaign office egged during the night. Also, many campaign signs were vandalized. It seemede to have been cut by a knife or something. "NDP candidate's joke upsets Jewish people"
A citizen from Saskatchewan posted something on his facebook about Passover, then on Good Friday, NDP candidate James McLaren commented a joke to the post. Mr. Kempton-Jones (facebook page owner) found it very offensive. MY OPINION- All I got to say is WOW. You're a candidate and you're going to go on facebook and post a racist joke on someone's facebook. Well there goes all your votes (if ever he had any). "Layton wants absent MPs fined"
Jack Layton wants absent MPs fined because he finds it as an insult to the people who want to hear what they have to say about any issues. Michael Ignatieff was absent in the Parliament, he along with other absentees will be fined $1000. During a debate, Layton stated " If you want to be a Prime Minister, you better learn how to become a member of Parliament first" and "Most Canadians, if they don't show up for work, they don't get a promotion" he scored a point at the debate for saying those statements (not saying those were his only points). MY OPINION- I think that Jack Layton has a very good point, because to be a good Prime Minister your most important role is to listen to the people. "Arts community puts candidates to the test"
Artists put the candidates to the test when almost 200 artists and art fans asked them many questions. They want the government to concentrate on the art world too. Conservatice candidate Rod Bruinooge said that his party would boost the stability of the arts fund, and create children arts and culture tax credit. As for the Liberal canddiate, Anita Neville, she plans to create a $25M award for international arts and that money would go towards Canadian artists. She said she hopes to double funding for the Canada Council of Arts, bringing its funding to $360M. My Opinion- I think that this a good idea, and that they should concnetrate more on the small things like art in Canada. "Election campaign gets ugly as parties trade accusations of dirty tricks"
There are many activities going down against parties. Activities such as late-night prank calls, illegal lawn-sign tamperine, and even a gay smear campaign have occured. A former liberla MP, who is now running for the New Democrats, Francois Boivin, was quiet angry after the newspaper said that "she was turfed from her old party because she helped her spouse get a Parliament hill job." This caused a big issue , everyone was accusing the Liberals for this event. MY OPINION- I think that this is all part of politics, attacking parties. Other parties try and make another party look bad in public, so the public will have second thoughts of their votes on the Liberals. At this point, the parties that aren't accused try and really connect to the people angry of the accused party. So they get their vote. "Most Canadians shrug off 'just visiting' attacks" Michael Ignatieff spent most of his life outside of Canada, he came to Canada in 2005, and became a liberal MP in 2006. At that point the Conservatives immediately told the people that he was just here to visit and not here to serve the people. In some parts of Canada, citizens say that it's good experience that Ignatieff worked overseas. A majority of the people in other parts of Canada say that it's a bad thing that he has worked outside of Canada. This fact about Ignatieff has been used to attack the Liberals, by the Conservatives. MY OPINION- i think that Michael Ignatieff should not run for prime minister, if a majority of the country think that it's a bad thing that Ignatieff worked outside of Canada most of his life. It's making the rest of the Liberals look bad. I work for Kevin Lamoureux as a caller to vote for Kevin, and half of the people I call say that they don't like Kevin because of Ignatieff. I think Ignatieff shouldn't represent the Liberals, because he's just bringing them down with his past. LINK- http://www.winnipegsun.com/decision2011/2011/04/17/18028341.html

"Beer, buns, and fiddlers mark the NDP campaign trail" Jack Layton was in Montreal drinking and partying while watching the Montreal Canadiens' hockey game. Jack Layton's intentions were to get the Quebecers comfortable wiht Jack Layton. MY OPINION-I think that this is a very good way to connecet with voters. To be a normal person instead of a politician, is a great way to connect. LINK- http://www.winnipegsun.com/news/decision2011/2011/04/15/18001796.html

"Grits goof on condolences"
The Liberal Party (Michael Ignatieff) offered condolences to families in Brandon who lost love ones in a flood. Which was wrong information. It was 100% wrong, there were no deaths in Brandon regarding the floods. Drivers of two vehicles died in the flood, near some other place far from Brandon. MY OPINION- I think that this is such a stupid mistake, period. How can you offer condolences to family who didn't even pass? LINK- http://www.winnipegsun.com/decision2011/2011/04/13/17987207.html

"Rhino candidate arrested after official gets pied" A Rino candidate was arrested after he pied an official in the face. Louise Pelletier was giving a statement, when a man walked up to her, and pushed a pie in her face. The Rhino candidate's name was Francis Arsenault. MY OPINION-I think that this man, Francis Arsenault should be seriously punished for what he did because, it was very rude. Plus it was in public. Ms. Louise Pelletier didn't even do anyting to the guy. I feel really bad for Louis Pelletier. LINK- http://www.winnipegsun.com/news/decision2011/2011/04/13/17981476.html

"NDP boasts about femal candidates" The NDP are saying that only 40% of its candidates are women. They want to get women more women involved in their party because they find that women have the attachment to the community. For example, women are very caring when it comes to aging people, they know the needs of a family because, they may already be mothers themselves. They know what to do to make children, and adults happy. MY OPINION- I think that this is a really good point. Rebecca Blaikie for Winnipeg North is a good candidate, but she hasn't really done anything that made an impact on the community. If there were women candidates who were very understanding in life, I think that many citizens would like them more. Women candidates would be a really good leader because "Mothers know best." "What you talkin bout, Iggy?" Michael Ignatieff is being accused of being an American citizen and voting Democrat in the United States. The evidence of this is Ignatieff's statement "I am an American Democrat, I will vote for Kerry in November" in 2004. At that time he was a professor at Harvard University.Ignatieff's spokesman, Michel Liboiron says "Mr. Ignatieff is a Canadian citizen, period. He has never held any citizenship and as such, has never voted in any foreign election. MY OPINION- I think that if this accusation is false, Mr. Ignatieff should speak for himself in a situation like this. It seems like he's trying to avoid getting caught lying or something. This is a very serious accusation, it could possibly kick him out of this election, so I think that Ignatieff himself should face this accusation. "Tories fighting for faiths" The Conservatives want to make an office of Religious Freedom. They plan on spending $5 million on this to promote and defend the fragile human right. They were inspired to do so, because a friend from Pakistan was assassinated because of religious reasons. MY OPINION-I think that this Office of Religious Freedom should happen because there are many cultures in Canada, and each of them have different religious views. For us to really be a multicultural country, we should have religious freedom. LINK- http://www.winnipegsun.com/news/decision2011/2011/04/08/17928951.html

"Tory supporter facing fraud charges gets plum seat at Harper rally" Snover Dhillon is a fraud from Toronto because he took $10,972 from a woman's credit and debit cards. He is apparently a 'friends' of MP Patrick Brown. When Brown was interviewed, he hesitated to say that Dhillon was a friend, and many say that hewas never really working in the campaign. Prime Minister Stephen Harper is being questioned that he let this man do these crimes.MY OPINION-I think that this man should definitely be in jail for what he did to the lady and all of the other crimes he has committed. I also think that the people that were involved in the crime, like Patrick Brown for backing Dhillon up and possibly Stephen Harper for letting this man commit the crimes. "Grit candidate probed for alleged racial comments." In Quebec, Liberal candidate, Andre Forbes may be fired for saying racial comments. He called Aboriginals "featherheads" and "lazy" a few years ago, and still continues today. They are checking all of the facts from journalists as proof of these comments. MY OPINION-I think that Andre Forbes should be removed rom his spot as a Liberal candidate. i think so because he is a politician, and you'res uppose to set a good example to the community so they can vote for you. I don't really know why they're still deciding whether to remove him or not, it should be automatic. We don't want Canada's government to get racial towards the FIRST people on this land. "Bloc wants to scrap multiculturalism for Quebec model." The Bloc Quebecois want Quebec to remove multiculturalism and add interculturalism. They think that Canada is concentrating more on the multiculturalism rather than the French culture, which is Canada's second country. Quebec wants to concentrate on the French culture and beliefs and no other cultures. They tried to remove multiculturalism but they did not succeed. MY OPINION-I think that Quebec or the Bloc Quebecois should understand that they are in Canada, and sure they are the second country of Canada, but they are only the second country. They should just be thankful that Canada gave them their own spot here in Canada and it is quiet large. LINK- http://www.winnipegsun.com/news/decision2011/2011/04/04/17870391.html

"VOTE CANADA THE PROMISES, SO FAR". The Conservatives are letting families with underage children to pay less tax. They also plan on to change things up when employment insurances goes up. In doing so, this process would be open to 525 000 employers and save them up to $165 million. The Liberals plan on giving university students $1000 a year for four years, $1500 for lower income families. This process would cost $1 billion a year. They also want to expand pension plans for people to save 5-10% in their CPP. They are also letting employees have more time off for really ill and aging family members and they will pay for the cost of caregiving. The New Democrats plan to change credit card rates to at least 5%, this would save the card holder about $60 a month. They plan on changing employer taxes to open up more opportunities for many people. The NDP also want to remove the polluting activities and spend the money used for that for clean energy. Investing $165 million to train and recruit doctors and nurses for the next 10 years and send back 300 Canadian doctors living abroad. MY OPINION- I think that this atricle is significant because it helps the voters choose who they want to vote for, if they haven't done so.
